The Owl House is a cartoon TV series directed by Dana Terrace. It has two full seasons, and a third season with three longer episodes. The show is about a teenage girl named Luz who doesn't fit in among her peers. While trying to get away from a summer camp designed to make her think inside the box, Luz accidentally goes to the realm of demons to an island called the Boiling Isles, which is made of the body of a dead titan. There she meets a rebel witch, Eda, and her demon sidekick, King. After spending a day with Eda, Luz decides that she feels more accepted in the Boiling Isles and opts to stay and learn to be a witch.

Luz faces challenges learning magic since humans can't perform magic in the same way that witches can. She eventually learns how to use glyph magic, which pulls on the magic of the Boiling Isles. Luz works hard to learn new glyphs, and she becomes adept at this form of magic relatively quickly.

Eda rebels against the ruler of the Isles, Emperor Belos, because he heavily restricts everyone's use of magic through his coven system. Luz chooses to rebel against him as well because of Eda, but it soon becomes apparent that Belos is more than just a power hungry leader; he is evil.
