Psych is an American detective comedy-drama television series created by Steve Franks for USA Network. The series stars James Roday Rodriguez as Shawn Spencer, a young police consultant who solves crimes with observation skills so acute that the police at the Santa Barbara Police Department think he's a real psychic. With his heightened observational skills and impressive eidetic memory, he convinces people that he solves cases with psychic abilities.

The series also stars Dulé Hill as Burton Guster, known as Gus, Shawn's intelligent best friend and reluctant partner. Corbin Bernsen stars as Henry Spencer, Shawn's father and former detective with the Santa Barbara Police Department. Maggie Lawson stars as the young female detective, Juliet O’Hara, Shawn’s love interest throughout the series. Timothy Omundson stars as Carlton Lassiter, the easily annoyed head detective. Kirsten Nielson stars as the tough-as-nails Police Chief Karen Vick of the Santa Barbara Police Department. Psych had many guest appearances throughout the series such as Judd Nelson, Cary Elwes, William Shatner, Tim Curry, and many more. The show is known for its many pop culture references mentioned by Shawn and Gus along with many comedic lines and fake names.

Psych was the highest-rated US basic cable television premiere in 2006. USA Network renewed the series for an eighth season on December 19, 2012, that included ten episodes. On February 5, 2014, USA Network confirmed that the eighth season of Psych would be its last, with the series finale airing on March 26, 2014.

Psych: The Movie, a two-hour film, aired on USA Network on December 7, 2017, launching the Psych film series, with the hope of making five more movies. Psych 2: Lassie Come Home was released on NBCUniversal's streaming service, Peacock, on July 15, 2020. Psych 3: This Is Gus premiered on November 18, 2021. Three further Psych films are in development.
