The Life of
Freddie Mercury

by Miranda Paulson

Farrokh Bulsara was born in Zanzibar to Parsi-Indian parents in 1946. Today, most of the world knows him as Freddie Mercury. Through his unique music, vocal range, performance, and style, Freddie became an international icon. I grew up knowing very little about Freddie, but I definitely loved the "old-timey" rock songs my mom would play when she would drive me around. I later found out her retro music was actually a band called Queen. I often requested to listen to what I called the "Mama song". It wouldn't be until much later that I fully discovered Freddie Mercury and his music. This website will serve as a a brief overview of Freddie's life and hopefully inspire future fans. In the meantime, I'm doing my best to indoctrinate my six year old. Who knows if it will stick, but for now he's partial to "Radio Ga Ga".
