The Early Bird Exhibit

Created by Jasmine Wakley

Everyone has been asked the question "What's your favorite animal?" But lets narrow it down a little: What's your favorite bird? Maybe you don't know much about birds, I'm still an amateur myself, but it's never too late to learn something new! This site is just a small collection of relics that express my personal interest in birds. I always had a few favorites growing up, but it wasn't until my husband and I actually started a birding challenge that I really started to take more of an interest in birds. Feel free to take a look at this exhibit to learn more about birds and find other resources that can help you expand your birding experience!

And to answer my earlier question, here are three of my favorite birds:

up-close side view of peregrine falcon, a bird of prey with gray feathers on its back and white feather underneath that have black spots, falcon is perched on a tree stump as it stares with solid black eyes
photo of a white bird with a black cap of feathers and a pointed, orange beak; flying against a blue sky, with tail feathers that splay out to the sides
side-view photo of small, round bird with a white belly, orange on its sides, and black feathers speckled with white on its back, bird is perched on a tree stump as it stares with bright reddish-orange eyes

Peregrine Falcon

This bird of prey has held a special place in my heart for years. They're one of the fastest animals on the planet!

Arctic Tern

My husband and I saw this one on the coast of California near LA. It has a beautiful call and the way it flies is so captivating to watch.

Spotted Towhee

This is a bird my husband and I spotted while in San Francisco. I just love the colors and shape of this bird, and the one we saw seemed content to stay perched like a puff-ball on that branch for hours. So cute!
