Total War Warhammer was released back in May of 2016 with DLC being released within the same year. The game was received with good reviews, averaging 81/100 by game critics. On the 28th of September in 2017, Warhammer II was then released with the same plans to release DLC over the years while they worked towards other games until they released Warhammer III in 2022.
The criticism however, runs a little deeper the more you play. Creative Assembly's history and relationship with the Warhammer community has proven to be strained given the business practices regarding DLC, and the communities feedback and criticism. The first being the act of having a blood and gore DLC, though is roughly three to four dollars, rather than having it be a part of the base game, despite the very nature of Warhammer Fantasy being a grim-dark fantasy. Then of course, as of last year, CA had taken down the community forum that allowed their followers to discuss and debate past, present, and future Total War content, under the belief that though they had purchased these games, they are not entitled to their right to discuss and calling it a "privilege".
In lue of this, the community had downvoted a great deal of games under the Total War title; turning a drastic rift that seperated the devolopers from the customer, to a massive cavern for quite some time. Though the announcement was later taken down with an apology regarding the post and how they intend to do better the damage was already done. It took a great deal of time and careful decision making regarding future expansions and DLC's for Warhammer 3 to allow some semblance of trust to form towards CA.
As of now, CA is on much better terms of the community, with others like myself still remaining somewhat skeptical yet hopefull for what the future of Total War Warhammer has in store for us.
