Billie's debut studio album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? was realeased March 29, 2019. Once again writing and producing the songs with her brother Finneas, Billie was only 17 when she released this album. Its 14 songs explore themes such as modern youth, drug addiction, heartbreak, suicide, and mental health, with lyrical sensibilities of humor and horror. The album's title comes from a line in the song "Bury a Friend". Eilish said the album was inspired in part by lucid dreaming and night terrors, which are reflected on the cover photo. At the 2020 Grammy Awards, it won Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, while "Bad Guy" won Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Billie's second studio album was released July 30, 2021. On this album, Finneas not only helped Billie write and produce the music, he also played every instrument that is heard on the album. Happier Than Ever draws heavily from Eilish's rise to fame and the drawbacks that come with it. Upon release, the album received acclaim from music critics, who praised its stylistic, restrained production, and insightful lyrics. The album has 16 songs on it. At the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, the album and its title track received a total of seven nominations, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
Billie's second EP Guitar Songs was released July 21, 2022. Its release came as a surprise, a decision she made because she wanted to share new music to her fans as soon as she could. There are only two songs on the EP, "TV" and "The 30th". Each contains personal lyrics that derive from contemporary life events, backed by simple acoustic guitars that emphasize Eilish's soft vocals. Both were (once again) written and produced by Billie and Finneas.
Billie's third studio album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT was released May 17, 2024. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, and charted all 10 of its songs in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, the album and its songs received a total of seven nominations, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
