Jeff Probst and His Catch Phrases

Jeff Probst is the host of Survivor and arguably its life-blood. Without his catch phrases and commentary, the show wouldn't be what it is today. This page is dedicated to the Man, the Myth, the Legend...Jeff Probst and his many catch phrases.

Come On In, Guys!

A classic Jeff Probst catch phrase. Jeff says this every time he calls in the castaways for a reward or elimination challenge.

The Tribe Has Spoken

Probably the most well-known Survivor catch phrase. Used to remind the person going home that it was their tribe that has voted them off the island.

Drop Your Buffs

The merge is a time in Survivor when the two (or sometimes three) tribes merge into one. This is a pivotal moment in the game that is often marked by Jeff saying, "drop your buffs,", a time where most people believe the real game-play begins. This is also when the voted off players join the jury, the group of castaways that will decide who is worthy of the Sole Survivor title and $1,000,000.

Wanna Know What You're Playing For?

In Survivor there are two types of challenges, elimination challenges and reward challenges. Reward challenges always come with a bit of surprise and it isn't revealed until you hear this classic catch phrase.

This Challenge Is On

Every good host lets the players know when the game begins. For Survivor, the challenge doesn't begin until you hear this catch phrase come out of Jeff's mouth.

In This Game, Fire Represents Your Life. When Your Fire's Gone, So Are You.

This phrase is said as every castaway comes to their first tribal council. It is one of the most iconic Survivor phrases and really represents what the game is all about.

I'll Go Tally The Votes

The vote at tribal council is when players can vote for another player to be kicked off the island. After all the votes are cast, Jeff reads them aloud after saying this classic catch phrase.

Does Not Count

During tribal council, players can play idols which give them immunity for the vote. When someone who played an idol gets a vote Jeff makes it very clear to everybody that it indeed does not count.

You Need To Bring Me Your Torch

Once a player receives enough votes to be sent home, they must bring their torch to Jeff to get snuffed ultimately signifying their leave from the game.

Stay Tuned For Scenes From Our Next Episode

This is the only catch phrase that the views never see Jeff say. But at the end of every episode we hear this iconic phrase used to build suspense and excitement for the next week's episode.

Immunity is back up for grabs

At the beginning of every elimination challenge Jeff takes the immunity idol or necklace back from the tribe or castaway that won the previous immunity challenge signifying that immunity is back up for grabs.

Background chants

Less of a catch phrase and more of a conspiracy theory, but I thoroughly believe that the chants that are often used during background music during the show is Jeff Probst.
