The Legend of Korra
This second animated show tells the story of Korra, who is the next incarnation of the Avatar following Aang. Set decades after the end of the 100-year war, the show chronicles the adventures of a new Team Avatar who face their own challenges to keeping the world at peace.
Chibi Shorts
Originally added as bonus material on the season 1 and season 3 DVD box sets, the chibi shorts, also known as the "Super Deformed Shorts," are self-parodies of Avatar: The Last Airbender made by the show's creators.
Netflix Adaption
In 2018, Netflix announced a live action adaptation of the animated show. DiMartino and Konietzko were initially involved as executive producers and showrunners but left due to creative differences. The first season premiered in February 2024 to mixed reception.
Comics
There have been several collections of comics released in the Avatar universe. This image is the cover of "The Promise," a comic series that covers the further adventures of Team Avatar right after the show's end. Other comics have covered the further adventures of Team Avatar after The Legend of Korra.
Chronicles of the Avatar
Beginning with The Rise of Kyoshi by F. C. Lee and Michael DiMartino, published in 2019, this series of novels covers the lives of previous avatars. The first two books cover Kyoshi, the Avatar two incarnations before Aang. Subsequent novels have focused on Roku and Yangchen, the Avatar two incarnations before Kyoshi.
Games
Many games have been released that let fans explore the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender through console, PC, tabletop, and mobile. Some online games were also free to play on Nickelodeon's website, but they are no longer available.
Art Book
Written by DiMartino and Konietzko, this book gives fans a deep dive into the creation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, including concept art and behind-the-scenes commentary. The first edition was released in 2010, and the second in 2020.
The Last Airbender
In 2010, a movie adaption of the first season, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, was released by Paramount. Having been developed without the input of DiMartino and Konietzko, the film recieved intensh backlash from fans. It is often considered to be one of the worse movie adaptions ever developed.
Avatar Studios
In 2021, ViacomCBS, the company that owns Nickelodeon, announced the creation of Avatar Studios with DiMartino and Konieztko as co-chief creative officers. At the same time, they announced an animated film about the further adventures of Aang, set to be released in January 2026.
