This "Mardi-Gras" uniform set followed the Jazz as they relocated from New Orleans to Utah in 1979. This uniform set encapsulates the "Mardi-Gras" theme using a Purple, Gold, and Green color scheme, while the logo across the chest resembles the Jazz theme. The "J" in Jazz, is replaced with a modified J note that is unique to music tablature.
In the mid 90's the Utah Jazz rebranded their identity while choosing to stick with the moniker, Jazz. This rebrand aimed at exemplifying the beautiful rocky mountains of Utah and the pure white snow that makes Utah a unique destination. This uniform set features the Jazz moniker in a new typography across the chest with a rocky mountain logo behind it.
The 90's featured a lot of unique jersey designs across the NBA; those like the Jazz, Raptors, Grizzlies, and Bucks. At the dawn of the 21st century, the Jazz looked to simplify their brand while sticking to the cold weather feel. The Navy blue and Powder blue color set was the base of the new identity.
After veering away from the original identity of the New Orleans Jazz, this rebrand aimed at returning the organization to its roots. This rebrand features the original Jazz & "J" note logo but with a new color scheme. Navy, Yellow, and Green are now the main colors of the Jazz as seen in the primary logo on the new uniforms.
This new jersey set came in response to a much needed revitalization of the Jazz identity. The previous uniform and color scheme set became boring to fans and the new owner, Ryan Smith, chose to change that. This new uniform set features a very modern and simplistic design. Using white, black, and a new spotlight yellow template, the Jazz had a new bold look. However, this modern take on the uniforms was not well received and as such, all 3 uniforms will be discontinued by the 2025 season.
This new uniform set aims at harnessing the best qualities of every previous redesign and eliminating every color, design, and logo that was despised. Returning to the Purple mountain look, the Jazz took another modern approach by adding black to the template and a new Mountain blue. Using this color scheme, the Jazz could bring back the 90's Jazz logo but instead of "Jazz", they could replace it with "Utah." This new uniform set will be introduced at the beginning of the 2025 season.
