Nintendo has been releasing games for the Switch video game system since 2019. Most Pokemon games available for the Switch come in pairs, meaning that there are two copies of the same storyline. While the storyline is the same, each game is slightly different in the sense that they each have Pokemon that cannot be found in its partner game. If someone really wants to "catch 'em all," they'll have to buy the same game twice or find a friend with the other version of the game, so they can trade Pokemon. Here are the pairs of Pokemon games that are available on the Nintendo Switch:
The "Let's Go!" series of games came out in 2019. This series takes place in the Kanto region, and contains different Pokemon from the first 151 created.
The Eevee copy of the game contains Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Koffing, and Ekans. The Pikachu copy of the game contains Growlithe, Sandshrew, Oddish, Mankey, Muk, and Scyther.
Pokemon Sword and Shield came out in 2019. This series takes place in the Galar region and includes new Galarian forms of Pokemon, like Meowth, Ponyta, Slowpoke, and Weezing.
Pokemon exclusive to Sword include Deino, Rufflet, Gothita, Swirlix, Scraggy, and Sawk. Pokemon exclusive to Shield include Throh, Croagunk, Spritzee, Lotad, and Larvitar.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, which were released on the Nintendo DS. The remakes were released in 2021. These games take place in the Sinnoh region.
