Pokemon: An Online Exhibit

Pokemon Video Games

Nintendo has been releasing games for the Switch video game system since 2019. Most Pokemon games available for the Switch come in pairs, meaning that there are two copies of the same storyline. While the storyline is the same, each game is slightly different in the sense that they each have Pokemon that cannot be found in its partner game. If someone really wants to "catch 'em all," they'll have to buy the same game twice or find a friend with the other version of the game, so they can trade Pokemon. Here are the pairs of Pokemon games that are available on the Nintendo Switch:

Let's Go Pikachu!

The "Let's Go!" series of games came out in 2019. This series takes place in the Kanto region, and contains different Pokemon from the first 151 created.

Let's Go Eevee!

The Eevee copy of the game contains Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Koffing, and Ekans. The Pikachu copy of the game contains Growlithe, Sandshrew, Oddish, Mankey, Muk, and Scyther.

Pokemon Sword

Pokemon Sword and Shield came out in 2019. This series takes place in the Galar region and includes new Galarian forms of Pokemon, like Meowth, Ponyta, Slowpoke, and Weezing.

Pokemon Shield

Pokemon exclusive to Sword include Deino, Rufflet, Gothita, Swirlix, Scraggy, and Sawk. Pokemon exclusive to Shield include Throh, Croagunk, Spritzee, Lotad, and Larvitar.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, which were released on the Nintendo DS. The remakes were released in 2021. These games take place in the Sinnoh region.

Pokemon Shining Pearl

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond features exclusive Pokemon like Growlithe, Ekans, Scyther, Electabuzz, Seel, Gligar, Cranidos, and the legendary dogs Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Shining Pearl features Vulpix, Sandshrew, Pinsir, Magmar, Teddiursa, Lotad and the legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

Pokemon Scarlet

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were recently released in November, 2022. The games take place in the all-new Paldea region, which means there are new Paldean forms of Pokemon like Tauros and Wooper.

Pokemon Violet

Pokemon Scarlet features Larvitar, Drifloon, Stunky, Skrelp, Stonjourner, and Deino. Pokemon Violet features Bagon, Misdreavus, Gulpin, Clauncher, Dreepy, and Eiscue.
