Oasis

BREAKING NEWS!!!

On August 22, 2009, the Gallagher brothers took the stage together for the last time. Little did the fans know that this was going to be the last time that the band would take the stage together. The day after this show, Liam supposedly contracted laryngitis. The band had to cancel the the show for that night. Noel later said in 2011 that the gig was canceled not because Liam had laryngitis, but because he had a major hangover. This 2001 statement by Noel led to his brother and former bandmate, Liam, to sue. He demanded an apology saying that Noel knew he was sick and was told so by a doctor the morning of their show. Liam dropped the lawsuite after Noel apologized.

On August 28, 2009 the band was schedule to perform at a festival in Paris. Wid-way through another bands set, the festival organizers made a public announcment saying that Oasis would no longer be performing. There were reports that messages were displayed citing an altercation between the brothers. Two hours later, Noel released a statement on the bands website that said: "It is with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. people will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

The split took place with only two shows left of their world tour. In 2015 Noel said that him and Liam had a fight that night in Paris, and that was the straw that broke the camels back. They had been fighting for some time over anything, and this was just too much. After the breakup, Liam and the remaining members continued under the name "Beady Eye".

There is an infamous show in which it is rumored that before the show, Liam threw a chair at Noel. They continued to play the show, but not without sharing dirty looks and subtle insults. Most famously, during their hit song "Slide Away", Liam sat down glaring at Noel as he sang the last part of the song. This would go on to be one of their most popular performaces.

After the breakup, both brothers would go on their own solo journeys. Both have released numerous songs and albums, all while playing tours and festivals. They would continue to feude through differnt tweets and interviews. Fans called for their return, but neither brother would budge. In many interviews, both brothers claimed that if the other apologized, then they would consider a reunion. An early group photo of the band.
