Reunion

Oasis

The wait is finally over...

An early group photo of the band. On August 27, 2024 Oasis did the unthinkable. The Gallagher brother announced that they were getting back together. They initially revealed a UK tour, but soon announced shows in North America, South America, Asia, and Australia. This tourmarked the first time that Oasis would appear live since their breakup in 2009. This tour was announced two days before the 30th anniversary of their debut album "Definitely Maybe". This announcment prompted six of Oasis's songs to re-enter the UK charts. An early group photo of the band.

Around the time of the 30th anniversary of the bands forst album, "Definitely Maybe", rumours started to spread of a possible reunion. Liam was denying the claims, but as time went on, his tweets started to hont more and more that the rumours might be true. Only two days before thew albums anniversary, Oasis unexpetedly announced a series of UK shows.

After this announcment, a lot of media attention was around the brothers relationship. They also focused on fans chances of getting tickets, as well as whether female fans deserved to be there. The last reason prompted Noels daught to take to social media to condemn the medias sexist and agist comments. Along with these comments, the media speculated that the reunion was instigated by Noel in order to pay for his $20 million divorce.

Owners of popular London and Machester bars and hotels were more than excited. They predicted that shows in their area would bring in more than $15 million due to the increased hotel stays and night life. Some hotel owners were even accused of canceling reservation in order to resell roooms at an inflated rate. Many festivals and events around the Uk were resheduled in order to not conflict with local Oasis shows. It seems that Oasis had put the whole of the United Kingdom at a stand still.

As tickets went on sale, websites started to crash and the reslae market went crazy. People were paying absurd prices in order to get a glimpse of the Gallagher brothers in action. If fans could not get tickets then they would stand outside the stadium just to hear what they could of their favorite tunes. It was reported that some fans traveled from other countries just to stand around the stadium to ask for tickets. I was lucky enough to snag two tickets to one of their LA shows in September. I can say with absolute surity that I have seen this band live, and that Oasis is the greatest rock band in the world.

After all of these years, it seems that Liam and Noel were willing to take their own advice from one of their most popular songs:

Don't look back in anger...
